About Me

Pantelis Tzamalis received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department of the University of Patras (2022), with a thesis on "Allergic Rhinitis Passive Detection, Assessment, and Monitoring using Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) and Crowdsensing". His doctoral work produced an innovative set of mechanisms and platforms integrating Human Activity & Gesture Recognition, Trustworthy AI, Explainable AI, Crowdsensing, and Text Mining for passive, automated health monitoring at spatiotemporal and individual scale.

He also holds an M.Sc. in the Division of Application and Foundation of Computer Science and Technology (2018) and a Diploma (B.Sc.) in Computer Science (2014), both from the University of Patras.

Currently, he serves as a Post-Doctoral Researcher and AIoT Group Leader at the Internet of Things Laboratory (IoT-Lab) of the University of Patras, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Iassis Medical Group, and a Guest Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Neapolis University, Paphos, Cyprus. He is also a Senior Researcher and Engineering Manager at the Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus”.

Throughout his career, he has served as a technical manager, tech lead, research engineer, and AI architect across multiple EU-funded (Horizon Europe SynAirG, H2020 SAINT, H2020 Privacy Flag) and industry-funded projects, including direct contracts with Pfizer CDI for Voice-Based Diagnostics and EyeAI. He has also contracted with Google LLC (Summer of Code 2019 & 2020) for the development of open-source ML infrastructure with JBoss (Red Hat) and MetaBrainz.

He has authored publications in international conference proceedings and journals (IEEE, Springer Nature), serves as a reviewer for various scientific venues, and has delivered invited and keynote talks including the ITU (United Nations), the EU IDEAL Cluster Annual Meeting (Braga, 2025), University of Patras (2023), and the Panhellenic Congress of Allergology & Clinical Immunology (2022).
