On November 2, 2021, I was invited το the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s
webinar series on Digital transformation for cities and communities. ITU specifically is
the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies – ICTs.
My talk was about how AI and IoT technologies can be merged and
provide healthcare solutions in the domain of Healthcare 5.0. In particular, I presented
my work progress over the last 5 years and how the applications
that my team and I developed are able to identify and monitor a disease exacerbation. The
invited talk had the name "Exploiting the Power of the Crowd for the efficient monitoring
of diseases exacerbation". The presentation can be found available for download at this

and the presentation video here.
In general, this webinar discussed the underlying principles of crowdsourcing, requirements
for crowdsourced systems, as well as highly innovative applications in smart cities and
communities. It brought together experts to discuss the role of crowdsourcing and
crowdsourced systems in the verticals of Smart Manufacturing and Digital Health. The
webinar also placed a unique emphasis on the role of ITU international standards in
facilitating IoT-related based crowdsourced systems in smart cities.
